Tamara Cavenett OAM is an experienced Adelaide based Clinical Psychologist who works with adults and couples across a broad range of concerns. Drawing on extensive training and evidence-based therapeutic approaches, Tamara tailors treatment to each individuals unique circumstances, goals and strengths. About Tamara


Tamara is an endorsed Clinical Psychologist with extensive experience across clinical practice, leadership and the mental health sector. She has previously lead clinical teams within Adelaide’s leading private mental health hospital and outpatient psychiatry and psychology services.

Tamara takes an evidence-based and individualised approach to therapy, drawing on extensive training across a range of psychological therapies and techniques. Her approach incorporates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based approaches and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), alongside other evidence-based strategies. She works collaboratively with each person to understand what matters to them and develop practical approaches to support meaningful and lasting change.

Tamara has held a number of national leadership roles within the Australian Psychological Society (APS), including President of the APS from 2021–2022 and President-elect in 2020. She is also a past National Chair of the APS College of Clinical Psychologists and has served as an Advisory Board Member for the Master of Clinical Psychology program at UniSA.

Her professional contributions include publications in leading psychology journals and regular media commentary on psychological health and wellbeing.

In 2026, Tamara was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for her contribution to psychology and the community.

Tamara is passionate about helping people maximise their health and wellbeing, providing a thoughtful, evidence-based and personalised approach to help each person move towards the goals that are important to them.
