Medicare rebates for psychology

The Australian government introduced rebates for psychology sessions in 2006.

You are eligible to receive a Medicare rebate for psychology sessions when referred by your GP, Psychiatrist or Paediatrician. For more detailed information please see your doctor or review our FAQ.

These rebates are eligible for alcohol use, anxiety, depression, grief, bipolar disorder, drug use, Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), panic attacks, Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), phobias, eating disorders, sleep problems and more.

If you have been referred under this scheme, you are entitled to a Medicare rebates for a maximum of ten sessions per calendar year.
